Two weeks before the News-Herald Track and Field Championships, Woodhaven and Anderson made it clear they’ll be contenders for the all-Downriver title.

The Warriors repeated as champions at Saturday’s Monroe Jefferson Invitational, finishing 19.5 points ahead of Southgate, which showed it can land several first-place finishes.

Aaron Bailey, fresh off a stellar football season, stole the show for Woodhaven and earned the invitational’s athlete of the meet award after winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes and anchoring the 800 relay with Kelvin Jutee, Will Moragne and Jon Weston.
