The wind was howling at the Jefferson Invitational Saturday, but Meg Bellino of St. Mary Catholic Central was strong enough to fight it off.
She won the 400 meters in 61:1 and the 200 in 27.0 to become the only double winner in the girls meet. Bellino also anchored the 1,600 relay team to third and was voted the meet’s MVP.
Woodhaven won the final 1,600 relay to finish with 129 1/2 points to edge Airport (127) for the title. SMCC was fourth with 81, Jefferson fifth with 64 1/2, Erie Mason sixth with 55 and Lutheran South ninth with 14.
Avery Bodenmiller won the shot-put with a season best of 36-11 for Airport and also took the discus at 109-3. Shana Flanary was second in both events with efforts of 36-7 and 108-7.
