India Peek Jensen was the top overall finisher at Tuesday’s Lakes Eight Conference cross country jamboree at Fremont, helping Spring Lake’s girls take first place at the event.

The Lakers scored 22 points, well ahead of second-place Ludington, which scored 68. Grant was next at 82, followed by Fruitport with 107 points.

“I was happy with our performance on a very difficult Branstrom Park course,” Lakers’ coach Aaron Andres said. “Our key was working the hills as a team and finishing strong. We knew the hills were a huge part of running a strong race. Both Spring Lake boys and girls spent last week hitting hill workouts in Grand Haven and PJ Hoffmaster State Park.”
