WEST CATHOLIC 73, CEDAR SPRINGS 64: The Falcons were ready for the new league track season last Thursday in scoring a pair of wins in the double dual event at Cedar Springs over the host school and Belding.

West, which went 6-1 in Blue division dual meets last year, won a regional championship for the third straight season and took 10th in the Division 3 state meet, has 43 girls on the team this spring.

“They are coming together well. It's a good start to the season,” said 15-year coach Dave Arbanas, who saw his team place fifth out of 13 schools for Division 2 at the Michigan State Playmakers indoor meet prior to spring break.

The Falcons have moved to Division 2 status this season and Arbanas noted “the girls know they have to work harder to get it. They'll compete and get after it.”
