Wesley breaks pole vault record
EAST CHINA TWP. — The pole vault records at Marine City High School now belong to the Wesley family.

Following in her older brother Joe’s footsteps, Tori Wesley set a school record in the pole vault by jumping 11 feet, 2½ inches.

Her jump bested the old record of 9 feet.

The rest of the day wasn’t nearly as kind to the Marine City track team, as both the boys and girls teams fell to Fraser in their first Macomb Area Conference Blue Division meet.

The girls lost 71.25-65.75, and the boys lost 74-63.

“They are a new team for us,” Marine City girls Coach Andrea Lothian said. “Next time, we will know what to expect.”

Marine City pole vaulter Danielle Lynch set the school record Tuesday with a 9-foot, 2-inch jump, but Wesley quickly bested the height.
