FLINT TOWNSHIP, Michigan – For the first time in the event's 30-year history, the Jon Runyan Classic track and field meet wasn't completed Friday because of thunderstorms.

Seven girls' events and five boys' events were in the books when thunder was heard at Carman-Ainsworth Junior High. Meet officials checked radar and didn't see any hope that the weather would improve soon enough to continue the meet.

There were 15 events per gender scheduled.

Ann Arbor Pioneer won four girls' events, while Carman-Ainsworth won the other three.

In an attempt to speed up the meet before the weather turned bad, the 6,400 relay was run with all four runners for each team on the track at once. It was scored by places like a cross country meet.
