ALLEGAN — Win or lose Friday, Vicksburg's boys track and field team learned some valuable lessons at the 12th Allegan Invitational.

One being, always keep your head up when standing in the vicinity of where the discus flies.

“One of our shot putters (B.J. Cagney) was over by the discus area, wasn't paying attention, and the wind was really blowing hard,” Bulldogs co-coach Jon Kachniewicz said. “The discus — (Cagney was) behind two fences — came back and hit him in the head.”

Cagney wound up with 15 stitches but he's OK, according to Kachniewicz.
