CHESANING — After winning his specialty, the long jump, Chesaning sprinter Deshaun Young captured his second win of the day in nail-biting fashion.

Young nipped Shepherd’s Chris Dickman by just over three-tenths of a second, 56.87-57.18, in the 400 dash Tuesday.

“I ran a decent time and I saved my best for last,” Young said. “I turned on the jets. Long jump is my best event.”

While the Indians lost their Tri-Valley Conference Central Division track and field meet to visiting Shepherd 73-64, Chesaning had its share of stars.

Young, a running back on the Chesaning football team last fall, won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 91⁄4 inches.
