Call it a preview of the cross country regional for Midland High and Dow High.

In addition to the host Chemics and the Chargers, Saturday’s Carter Invitational at Stratford Woods will include Bay City Western, Grand Blanc, Flushing and Swartz Creek, all of which will also be at the Division 1 regional at Delta College on Oct. 31.

“(A lot of) the good teams in our region will be there (on Saturday),” said Dow coach Jed Hopfensperger. “It’s a pretty good test for the regional.”

Other teams competing Saturday are Mount Pleasant, Bay City John Glenn, East Lansing, Brighton, Hartland, Ogemaw Heights, Flint Kearsley and Flushing.

Chemics’ coach Marty Hollenbeck said this might be the best invitational in the state this year for the girls’ field.
