Sports Preview – Girls Cross Country
If you drove around Rockord this summer you could see some of the members of the girls cross country team preparing for their season.

It is one of the reasons the Rams were named by the Michigan Cross Country Coaches Association as the “Team of the Decade.”

Head coach Ben Watson, who enters his fourth year coaching at Rockford, is looking to that work ethic and reputation to help his Rams conquer arguably the toughest conference in the state.

During the OK Red season the Rams will face Grand Haven, which finished second at the state finals, and East Kentwood which finished third.

According to Watson, East Kentwood didn’t lose any runners to graduation, and Grand Haven only two, so the conference will be an even tougher challenge this year. Rockford placed fourth at the state finals, however, and Watson is hoping that standing and the team’s work ethic will pay off.
