Saline fourth in girls division 1 cross country race at Portage Invite

PORTAGE – On Saturday, Saline High School senior Alexandra Leptich could safely call herself the fastest girl in the state.

Leptich won the Division 1 race at the Portage Invite, the biggest cross country event in the state, turning in the fastest time across all four divisions at 17:57.

That time, along with Katie Carter’s fourth place finish in 18:22, helped Saline to a fourth place team finish with 172 points. Rockford won the event with 108, followed by Pinckney and Traverse City Central.

Pioneer finished ninth as a team with 237 points. Elizaveta Boudreau led the Pioneers, finishing 12th in 18:51. Tara Jibson was 33rd in 19:32.
