Runners prepare for annual meet – Adrian, MI – Daily Telegram
ADRIAN, Mich. –

For nearly 50 years, Lenawee County’s top boys track and field athletes have been gathering at a central site about this time of year to sort out who’s the fastest, strongest and highest, maybe not so much for bragging rights, but as a good test against good competition to prepare themseves for even better competition at the various state meets.

That history will continue on Tuesday when the 49th annual Daily Telegram Individual Invitational takes place at Adrian High School with field events beginning at 4 p.m. and the first running final — the girls 3,200 meter relay — set for a 5:30 p.m. start. In between, there may be a race or two to determine the eighth and final competitor in a certain sprint or hurdle race, because that particular event had more than eight finalists due to ties. Should there be a run-off or two, it would begin at 5 p.m.
