Romeo girls win dual-meet cross country title

The Romeo cross country teams competed in the second MAC White Division Jamboree on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Warren Mott. The girls team finished in first place to go a combined 14-0 to win the league championship. The boys team took second place at 12-2. St. Clair won the boys league title.

Romeo’s Shelby Jackson was the girls race winner (20:49). Shannon Boyce finished in second place (20:56) overall and for Romeo. Rose Propst was seventh (21:32). Maria Quas took ninth (21:42) followed by Jenna Thomas 10th (21:54), Marie Mets 17th (22:28) and Cassidy Pawlitz 19th (22:35).

Also running for the Bulldogs were Dani Peyerk 24th, Alisha Jones 33rd, Shelby Holliday 59th and Bailey Pearce 65th. Ninety-seven girls total competed in the race.

“The girls did a great job,” Romeo coach Mike Buslepp said. “They have had a good year so far but there are more races to run. Good job.”
