Romeo 20th in girls cross country state meet

The Romeo girls cross country team competed as a team at the state meet held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 7. Teams or individuals qualify for state at the regional meet where the Bulldogs finished second. The top three teams advance to state.

Saline won the girls team title. Megan Goethals of Rochester was the race winner (16:48.8). As a team, the Bulldogs finished in 20th place of the 28 competing teams with an average time of 20:25.4. Sophomore Shelby Jackson was the first Romeo runner finishing 36th overall (19:30.7). Freshman Shannon Boyce was 44th and the next Bulldog to the line (19:37.2). Three sophomores completed the lineup. Rosemary Propst was next at 127th (20:41.8) followed by Jenna Thomas 162nd (21:01.8) and Maria Quas at 173rd (21:15.3). Also running were Dani Peyerk (21:24.6) and Cassidy Pawlitz (22:42.4).
