Reese wins GTC West girls cross country title

The Saginaw News, October 21, 2009 1:03 a.m.

Shaina Marsrow battled her asthma all the way to the finish line of the Greater Thumb Conference West Division girls cross country championship on Tuesday at Cass City, which undoubtably was the difference in the Rockets winning the meet with 56 points compared to 58 for Bad Axe.

Marsrow finished sixth in 21:52, while Kellie Humpert led the way with a fourth-place effort of 21:37.

“She’s got guts. We would have had to pull her from the course,” said Reese coach Foster Findlay. “She’s a testament to all of the hard work the girls have put in so far this year.

“At the beginning of the season all of those teams were beating us. The girls have really peaked at the right time.”
