Powers Catholic girls complete perfect Big Nine cross country jamboree schedule

FLINT TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Flint Powers Catholic’s girls have swept all three Big Nine Conference cross country jamborees after posting three more convincing victories Wednesday at Carman-Ainsworth.

The Chargers beat second-place Flushing 22-35, third-place Carman-Ainsworth 23-38 and last-place Davison 17-44.

Flushing beat Carman-Ainsworth 25-34 and Davison 19-42. Carman-Ainsworth beat Davison 21-40.

Powers freshman Kaylie Milne won the race in 19:40. Madeline Woodke of Flushing was second in 20:03, while Lauren Foote of Carman-Ainsworth was third in 20:04. Carman-Ainsworth’s Jessica Saunders, who won the last Big Nine jamboree a week earlier, was fourth in 20:05. Powers had four of the top eight runners.

The final Big Nine meet will be held Wednesday at Flushing Township Nature Park. It will count 50 percent toward the league championship, while the three jamborees will count another 50 percent.
