PORTAGE — The Pioneer High School boys cross country claimed a team title and an individual championship at the largest cross country invitational in the state.
Senior Nathan Karr won the 41-team Division 1 race of Saturday’s Portage Invitational in 15 minutes, 25 seconds and the Pioneers had five runners in the top 24 to cruise to a team title.
“In terms of numbers and quality, this is the best meet we’ll run all year,” Pioneer coach Don Sleeman said. “What Nathan did today will give him a lot of confidence for the rest of the year.”
