Nyenhuis, Braves are county track champs
RAPID RIVER – The 400-meter dash and 300 hurdles are among the toughest events in a track meet, especially with those races run back-to-back.

Gladstone junior Andria Nyenhuis won both Thursday while helping the Braves capture the Delta County girls’ crown with 180 points. Defending champion Escanaba edged Rapid River 94-88 for the runner-up spot.

Nyenhuis took the 400 in one minute, 3.74 seconds and dominated the 300 hurdles (49.55). She also copped the 100 hurdles (17.47) and anchored the winning 1600 relay.

Big Bay de Noc’s Erin Holmberg, her main challenger in the 400, was clocked at 1:04.6.
