With cross country regionals just two weeks away it looks as if North Muskegon’s Lindsay Neal is rounding into form.
Neal crossed the finish line first in the Division 4 girls race at the Portage Invitational on Saturday.
The North Muskegon junior, who was a state champion as a freshmen, has been battling nagging injuries this season, but beat a talented field by 11 seconds with her winning time of 19:20.
Neal’s first-place finish helped the Norse to a ninth-place finish with 246 points. Manton won the Division 4 team title with 77 points.
Hesperia’s girls team had a pair of top-10 runners and placed second in the Division 4 race with 101 points.
Alexa Rumsey (19:39) led the Panthers by placing third and her teammate Gabbie Bates (19:59) placed fourth.
