It wasn’t easy winning last season’s News-Herald Track and Field Championships.

It’ll be even harder if Woodhaven hopes to defend its boys’ title Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors, 21 points better than runner-up Romulus at last season’s annual meet, have the always-deep Eagles and a more experienced Roosevelt squad to contend with this spring when the area’s teams converge on Grosse Ile High School.

“It should a tight meet all day,” Woodhaven Coach Mike Dennisuk said. “It should be a lot of fun.”
