How to use athletic.net - possible seminar in Big Rapids
23829. MITCA Clinic - session on athletic.net
by michigancrosscountry.com, 10/24/09 8:57 ET
The MITCA Clinic has a set program already. Well after it was determined, it was suggested by someone that it would be beneficial if Dan W and I gave a session on how to use athletic.net.

It would include:

*how to upload complete meet results

*how to merge athletes (the Mike Atchoo and Michael Atchoo phenomenon)

*benefits of becoming a supporter

*how to add/delete events from your schedule

*maintaining your team statistics

*adding historical events

*using it for meet entry and management

*benefits of using it for track and field as well

and so forth.

We proposed the idea to the MITCA folks and the response was that the rooms were booked and the seminar was full. We appreciate that and know how hard they work on putting together a great show year after year. We still hope perhaps they'll squeeze us in, but we are also considering running a session outside the normal flow of the event for those with interest. If we decided to do so (and we'll try to find a time that is not disruptive to their gig), we want to know how many would have interest and where we might catch most of those interested.

Please go here:

http://michigancrosscountry.com/michigan...p?tid=1162

and indicate which time(s) would work best for you.

This poll will show who voted for which slots, so that we can follow up with those indicating that they can come.

RE: How to use athletic.net - possible seminar in Big Rapids
Looks like we have an official slot on Saturday morning, maybe two. Thanks to Kernie for working on that and I do hope people find it beneficial.

Proposed topics:
1. http://athletic.net for cross country
how to get an account
how to add a meet to your schedule
how to create a meet
how to add a course
how to add/edit athletes
how to resolve an athlete in the system twice (Robert vs Bobby)
how to upload single school results
how to upload all meet results
how to make an upload file - create an excel spread sheet + notetab example
how to view a hypothetical race
how to view a team season stats sheet
how to view an individual athlete's career
how to view a course history
current shortcomings of athletic.net
questions and answers

2. http://athletic.net for cross country meet entry/management plus brief track overview
how to manage a cross country meet on athletic.net
creating a meet
setting up races - several options plus and minus
confirming entries
downloading entries
generating labels for numbers or pull tabs
use EMMXC to manage your meet and score it? Free and powerful - brief overview only
how to enter a track meet
how to enter track meet results - auto parse of sydex and hytek!
entry of splits
FAT vs hand times automatically adjusted on athletic.net
maintaining all time leader lists
questions and answers

Obviously we cannot get all of that in one session, so we may pick and choose. What most interests you?
