ERIE — Alison Meisner moved from Bedford to Erie Mason schools in the fourth grade and never left.

She ran on Mason’s first girls cross country team 30 years ago and placed 13th in the Class C state meet despite falling down. She also played volleyball and ran track for the Eagles, was valedictorian for the Class of 1980 and married former Mason athlete Dan Meisner 27 years ago.

Their two sons — Darin and Dustin — participated in football, swimming and track at Mason. Alison has been coaching middle school cross country at Mason for 21 years. She also took over as high school boys coach last year with great results.

This season her Eagles won their Regional, took first in the Lenawee County Athletic Association meet by 20 points, won the Blissfield Invitational, took seconds at the Beck, Huron and St. Mary Catholic Central Invitationals and the Mason Relays and were 20th at the state meet.

Mason’s outstanding season has earned Meisner Region Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year honors. Also considered were SMCC’s Chuck ron, Bedford’s Bob Masters, Monroe’s Mark Scoles and Whiteford’s Jim Hojnacki.

Meisner simply loves it at Mason.
