CARSON CITY — Led by freshman Devon Sutton, Ludington High’s girls cross country team finished sixth out of 23 teams in the Green Division at the Don Baese Invitational which was hosted by Carson City Crystal High on Saturday.

Benzie Central, the state’s top-ranked Division III team, won the race with 53 points, one more than Williamston. Ludington’s point total was 259.

“What a great day,” said LHS coach John Lipa. “Everyone just raced and ran their best times of the season, some by 30 seconds. The course was fast and the kids times showed it.”

Rachele Schulist of Zeeland West was the first finisher in 18 minutes, 41 seconds. Sutton was 38th overall in 21:05.3.
