The two MVPs of the 15th annual Korf/Schultz Saginaw County Track Meet both credited mentors with helping them.

For Valley Lutheran’s Aaron Meckes, it was his two older brothers, both track athletes who went on to become All-Americans in track and field at Calvin College.

For Arthur Hill freshman Makeda DeBardelaben, it is her upperclass teammates such as Kiah Douglas and Jasmine Ray who have helped her through a varsity season.

“It could’ve been any of those three (for MVP),” noted Arthur Hill coach Soyna Dudley, whose freshman had wins in the 400- and 800-meter relays, the open 200 dash and was fifth in the long jump.
