At the individual MHSAA state finals at Comstock Park last Saturday, the Kent City Eagles peaked their performances for the final hoorah of the season.
The 3200-meter relay team of Kaylee Carew, Dani Nowicki, Sadie Ringer, and Ashley Russo fought off most of their rivals to finish fifth of the 34 teams and earn all-state medals. Because of their grades and top-8 finish, Carew, Nowicki, and Ringer also earned academic all-state honors.
Later in the 1600-meter run, Carew ran 5:23.66 to set a new school record.
The foursome of Alison Sutherland, Nowicki, Hannah Miller, and Taylor Nowicki set season-best performances in both the 400- and 800-meter relays, just out of the medals (1:49.13 and 52.63).
