Nearly unbeatable

MILAN — Jordan Tomecek seems to do just about everything right.
She is nearly unbeatable as a distance runner. She is a 4.0 student in the classroom. She even timed her illness right.
Tomecek contracted mononucleosis over Christmas break and had to stop running for three weeks. She spent much of Christmas Day asleep. Then she fell asleep at 6:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve and didn’t wake up until 10:30 a.m. the next day.
“It was probably the best time it could have happen (between cross country and track seasons),” she said. “It knocked me out, but it could have been worse.”
The timing was bad news for Tomecek’s opponents. After going undefeated and winning a state title in cross country, she was just as impressive in track this spring.
