MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Last year: Second in the MIAA, 10th at NCAA Division III regional meet

Coach: Mark Northuis, 22nd season

Season opener: Vanderbilt Invitational, 10 a.m. Saturday at Ridge Point Church

Outlook: Hernandez and Love both are returning All-MIAA runners, giving the Flying Dutchmen a solid base as they try to finish third or higher in the MIAA for the 22nd time in a row. Barney claimed All-MIAA distinction in track last spring. The Flying Dutchmen have 16 returning letterwinners and 15 prospects, including 12 freshmen.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Who to watch: Emily Fischer, Sr. (Naperville, Ill.); Kate Nelson, Jr. (Williamston); Taylor Mattarella, So. (Traverse City); Katie Martin, So. (Portage); Claire Bird, Sr. (New Paltz, N.J.).

Local connection: Sheri McCormack, Fr. (West Ottawa); Sarah Venlet, So. (Holland Christian); Amy Stauffer, Fr. (West Ottawa).

Last year: Second in the MIAA, sixth at NCAA Division III regional meet

Coach: Mark Northuis, 22nd season

Outlook: All five of Hope’s top finishers from the regional meet are back. The Flying Dutch also have three other All-MIAA runners in the mix. Senior Susan Savasky, junior Kelly Lufkin and junior Karly Sikma (Grand Rapids) joined Fischer and Mattarella in receiving those honors.
