Hale girls second at SSC cross-country meet

STANDISH — Lauren Brown crossed the finish line sixth in 23:50 to lead Hale to a second place finish in the girls’ portion of the Standish-Sterling Central Lakeside Cross-Country Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Pinconning won the girls’ race with 38 points, while Hale registered 63. There were five scoring teams in the girls race.

The Hale boys’ team placed third with 97 points. Host Standish took first with 29. There were six scoring teams in the boys race.

Tyler Braun led the Hale boys’ effort by placing ninth in 21:16.

Other Hale runners to finish the girls race were: Kelsey Scott (ninth); Lizz Farrand (14th); Kaitlyn Brent (16th); Kasey Mick (28:54).

Other Hale runners to finish the boys race were: Caleb Parent (12th); Nathan Turland (18th); Eddie Calhoun (25th).

Pinconning’s Ben Hemstreet won the boys race in 19:19, while Emily Short of Tawas won the girls in 20:55).
