GROSSE POINTE — The Grosse Pointe South girls cross country team is swiftly running away from the competition, with trophies in tow.

South recently added the Wayne County Championship title to its growing list of impressive outings this season. The team took first place out of 38 squads Oct. 9 at Willow Metropark.

The Blue Devils also won the Sept. 12 Algonac Invitational, placed third at the Sept. 18 Michigan State University Spartan Invitational and took first at the Oct. 3 Center Line Invitational. They also went undefeated in Macomb Area Conference Red Division jamboree action, going 6-0 at the Sept. 15 and Oct. 6 competitions.

At the county meet, three Blue Devils — all freshmen — finished in the top five, as has been their trademark.
