Grand Blanc’s Geena Gall qualifies for 800-meter final in NCAA track championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Geena Gall of Grand Blanc, a University of Michigan senior, will get a chance to defend her NCAA 800-meter championship after winning her semifinal heat Thursday during the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Gall’s time of 2:02.28 won the first heat of the semifinals and was the fastest performance in the two heats. Tennessee junior Phoebe Wright, who nipped Gall at the line in the regional meet, won the second heat in 2:02.56.

The 800 final will be run at 12:19 p.m. Saturday.
