Lim’s teammates talked. They knew that chances were good that the Shrine boys, ranked in the top 10 in Division 4 in the state, would win last week’s regional at Metro Beach. They agreed that Lim, a four-year team member, should be part of the group.

Coach Wright Wilson’s Shrine Knights (21-7) did win the regional championship. Ben Kendell led the way, finishing third in 17:38, C.J. Dagher was fifth in 17:47, Matt Sutton sixth in 18:01, Evan Yee 12th in 18:27, Matt Arce 13th in 18:29, Robert Joseph 16th in 19:15, and Lim was 67th at 38:45.

It was the first regional championship in Lim’s four years. It was his first cross country medal.
