Hale girls finish third

FAIRVIEW — AuGres-Sims girls track and field team needed a perfect day if it had any hope of ending Fairview’s long run atop the North Star League.

Even that may not have done the trick as the Eagles rolled to their 12th straight league title by a 39-point margin over the Wolverines, who still had their best finish since early in the decade.

Fairview finished with 164 points to the Wolverines’ 125, followed by Hale (73), Posen (72), Mio (50), Hillman (36) and Atlanta (1).

Hale’s Tarra Caverly earned a portion of meet MVP, setting meet records in the 100 hurdles (16.46), 300 hurdles (48.75), winning the 100 (12.92) and anchoring the winning 4×400 relay (4:35.87) with Kelsey Scott, Kaitlin Scott and Liz Lerczak.

Hale’s other top finishers were Liz Lerczak in the discus (2nd, 95-6), high jump (4th, 4-4) and 800 (3rd, 2:45.31); Kaitlin Scott in the 100 (4th, 13.51) and 400 (3rd, 1:06.41); and Kelsey Scott in the 1600 (4th, 6:29.48).
