Girls cross country team wins White Division meet

It was a cold, extremely windy day when the harriers met to run and decide MAC division championships at Metro Beach on Saturday, Oct. 24. The MAC White league tournament ended the same way the dual season did. Romeo girls and the St. Clair boys were the champs. In both cases, the St. Clair girls and Romeo boys finished in second place.

The final league team totals were as follows: Romeo 38, St. Clair 50, Port Huron 83, Anchor Bay 101, Warren Mott 140, Port Huron Northern 146, Ford 179 and Chippewa Valley 189.

Shelby Jackson was the girls race winner (19:45). Teammate Shannon Boyce was fourth (20:05). Jenna Thomas took sixth place (20:35) with Rose Propst finishing eighth (21:01). All four girls were named as All-Conference runners.

Also competing for the Bulldogs were Maria Quas finishing 19th (21:40), Dani Peyerk 20th (21:51) and Cassidy Pawlitz 21st (21:52). Fifty-five girls competed in the White.

In the overall competition (all divisions) the Bulldogs girls finished second behind Grosse Pointe South. The top 10 of the 30 competing teams finished as follows: GPS 30, Romeo 130, St. Clair 160, Eisenhower 164, Marine City 177, Stevenson 178, Grosse Pointe North 222, Dakota 240, Port Huron 262 and Fraser 274.
