Fremont, Spring Lake win cross country titles

The Warrior Invitational Saturday morning in Remus provided a perfect opportunity to prepare for next weekend’s cross country regionals.
Fremont and Hesperia took full advantage sweeping the boys’ titles and gaining confidence as the season begins to wind down.
Nick Butcher was the overall medalist with a time of 16:34, leading the Packers past top-ranked Ionia in the Division 1-2 meet.
Hesperia had six runners finish in the top nine in the Division 3-4 field to finish with 22 points and easily outdistance second-place St. Louis.
Division 1-2
Fremont fell out of the rankings for the first time this season earlier this week and had something to prove on Saturday.
The team did just that bunching all five runners in the top 13 finishers to earn the boys title. Fremont had 41 points, followed by Ionia with 44 and Spring Lake with 93. Fruitport was sixth and Ludington took seventh in the boys standings.
