Fisher, who said he runs 60 to 65 miles a week, won the Mike Jackson Invitational on Thursday at Croswell-Lexington with a time of 16 minutes, 39 seconds.

On Saturday, at the Marine City Invitational, Fisher won the event in 17:04.

“As a coach,” Pemberton said, “I see him as a runner that truly runs from the heart, and an athlete with heart will always take it to the next level when the pressure is on.”
