HUDSONVILLE — It was like a black — with a touch of red — cloud descended onto Eagle Stadium, and stormed and swirled and spun around the track.

This whirlwind, also known as the mostly black-clad East Kentwood boys track and field team, certainly left a mark at Friday’s O-K Red Conference meet.

Where do you begin talking about the Falcons’ domination? How about the 100 meters, where they finished first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth?

Or how about the 200 dash? That was more amazing as they raced to the top five spots.

Rockford girls win

The Rockford girls did very well, too.

After edging East Kentwood by three points in a dual meet, the Rams turned it up and bettered the Falcons by a score of 147-114 on Friday.

“We had girl after girl after girl step up and just compete their hearts out tonight,” said Rockford girls coach Randy VanderVeen. “Talk about the pieces of a puzzle falling into place, tonight, we did.”
