Eagles’ Hord finishes as state runner-up; team finishes seventh

Brooklyn — It wasn’t the finish the defending Division 2 state champions wanted.

 Jake Hord didn’t have the individual finish he wanted as well.

 And yet, when one really looks at the results, it’s amazing anyone could really be that upset.

 But, those are the standards you create when you are the defending champs, or one came just two places from winning an individual state championship a year ago.
 Linden’s boys cross country team completed its defense of last year’s state title by finishing in seventh place in the team standings. Meanwhile, Hord, who hoped to win the individual championship, came just three seconds off doing just that, taking second place at Michigan International Speedway Saturday during the Division 2 MHSAA Lower Peninsula Cross Country Championships.
