Only two of the top 10 finishers at the Western Wayne Athletic Conference boys’ cross country league meet were from Dearborn High.

But, five of the top 15 were Pioneers.

And that made all the difference.

DHS wound up scoring 48 team points to finish atop the field of 10 teams and win the new league’s first-ever championship.

Edsel Ford was second with 58, followed by Belleville with 64, Crestwood with 82, Redford Union with 129, Fordson with 137, Romulus with 198, Garden City with 225 and Robichaud with 290.
