BLOOMINGTON, IND.- The Central Michigan men’s and women’s cross country teams finished strong at the Great Lakes Regional meet hosted by Indiana University.

The women finished the day in ninth place with 320 points, top runner for the women on the day was Missy Darling (47th, 22:13.69).

“The women took a huge step today,” head coach Willie Randolph said. “They bought into each other and exploded, we beat some very good teams today and proved ourselves.”

Other finishers for the Chippewsas, Raeanne Lohner (59th, 22″27.20), Kylee Kubacki (22:30.57), Danielle Dakroub (76th, 22:41.51), Holly Anderson (79th, 22:43.68), Emliy Van Wasshenova (99th, 23:02.47-new personal best) and Charnele Lyons (145th, 25:51.66-new personal best.

“We knew we could beat good teams,” assistant coach Matt Kaczor said. “We proved that on a day that really counts.”

“All of the women did a great job, with Emily and Charnele both setting PR`s that just shows how hard these atheltes are working,” Kaczor said.

The men finished the day in 11th place with 262 points, top finisher for the men was Riak Mabil (36th, 32:06.88).

“The men ran very well today,” Kaczor said. “They as a team bought into the system and proved themselves.”
