BROOKLYN – The foundation has been set and Calvin Christian’s boys cross country team appears to be in great shape.
Running with a lineup consisting of six underclassmen, the Squires placed second to top-ranked Benzie Central at Saturday’s Division 3 state finals at Michigan International Speedway.
“We are thrilled,” Calvin Christian coach Laurens TenKate said. “The goal was to win it, but we’re thrilled with second.
“They ran a great race to put themselves in the mix. They really finished the season well.”
The Squires were led by their lone senior, Andrew Reidsma, who placed 11th overall with a time of 16:30.1.
“Andy was a great senior leader and it was nice to see him make all-state,” TenKate said.
