Livonia Stevenson High’s Courtney Calka capped off a stellar track and field career Saturday by winning the 1,600-meter run at the Midwest Meet of Champions held at Jackson’s Withington Stadium.
Calka was clocked in 4 minutes, 55 seconds in a meet that attracted the top track and field senior performers from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
Ohio’s Erin Mercer was runner-up to Calka in 4:57.79.
Calka, headed to Eastern Michigan University in the fall, was the MHSAA Division 1 state runner-up while shattering her own school record with a time of 4:51.97.
