GLADSTONE – The Gladstone boys are bracing for what may be a fight to the finish in Thursday’s Division 1 regional track meet.

Joining the host Braves, who have won five straight Upper Peninsula titles, are Escanaba, Manistique, Sault Ste. Marie, Marquette and Menominee. Field events begin at 2:30 p.m. Running events start at 3.

“I think it’s going to be close,” said Braves’ coach Gary Whitmer. “Marquette’s going to be throwing its distance people at us. We’re hoping we can squeeze a few people in the 1600 and 3200 (meter runs). It would be huge if we do that.”
