W-P to compete at the MITCA team track finals

GOBLES — Whittemore-Prescott’s boys track team earned the right to compete at the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association team track finals on Saturday and finished ninth out of 13 of the top Division 4 track squads in the state.

The MITCA meet utilizes full-team scoring, unlike the MHSAA meet, which only scores individual state qualifiers. MHSAA team regional champions are invited to the meet, as well as a number of the top runner-up squads. W-P, which finished second at the Breckenridge regional meet on May 16, earned an at-large berth.

Sand Creek won the meet with 1,073 points over Traverse City St. Francis (1,046.5) and perennial MHSAA meet champion Potterville (1,014.50). The Cards finished with 689.5 points.
