Blue Devils prove second time is a charm The Blue Devils finished the Division 3 race in 28th place, but it was the experience of making it again that was on their minds. Again, the team learned a bit about what it feels like being at state. Brent Hull was Lake Fenton’s boy qualifier. He placed 58th in 17:18.9.

“It’s really overwhelming when you see everyone starting out so fast,” Roe said. “At the very beginning we had to tell ourselves not to take it too fast, because then you get tired out during the race. We had to learn how to slow down at a comfortable pace at the beginning and move our way up.”

Marchlewski was Lake Fenton’s first finisher. She took 161st in 22:30.7. It was Marchlewski’s first trip to state.

“I learned it’s a fast race,” Marchlewski said. “It is a hard course, but the atmosphere is great. I wouldn’t trade this in for anything. All the way down there were people cheering you on everywhere. People were shouting, it’s great.”
