Allendale, Mich. – Grand Valley State, the top-ranked women’s indoor track and field team in the country, proved just that on Friday (Feb. 10) at day one of the 2012 GVSU Big Meet inside the Kelly Family Sports Center. The Lakers hit 20 NCAA Division II Provisional qualifying marks and six automatic qualifying marks en route to a banner opening to their largest meet of the season.

In the 5,000 meter event, GVSU got a personal best performance from freshman Ann Marie Arseneau, who finished in 17:12.12 to earn a provisional qualifying time and a sixth-place finish. In the same event, sophomore Molly Slavens hit a provisional mark of her own, finishing 13th with a time of 17:31.73.
