Bay City Western boys cross country race to second place finish at Midland Invitational

Bay City Western boys cross crountry team competed in the Midland Invitational on Saturday. The Warriors brought their A-game and finished second in the meet with a score of 71.

“I was very happy with how they ran as a pack,” coach Mike Nesbitt said.

The Warriors’ top finisher was Matt Kabacinski who finished in second place with a time of 16:20. Teammate David Gould was less than a minute behind him in 11th with a time of 17:15. Tyler DuRussell also had a top-20 finish for the Warriors with a 16th place finish and a time of 17:26. Spencer Kokaly finished 20th with a time of 17:31 with teammate Jeffrey Amthor less than three seconds behind him in 22th with a time of 17:34.

Ogemaw Heights’s Martin Nelkie finished first in the race with a time of 16:07. The team from Brighton won the event with a score of 55. Western was in second with Midland Dow in third with 78.
