Basketball: Cardinal Mooney’s family affairIt’s all about family when it comes to boys and girls basketball at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Marine City. But nobody cares more about the Cardinals than the McAndrews family — coaches Jim, Susan and Mike.”Basketball is a long season, running from November to March,” said Susan (formerly McAndrews) Everhart, who is in her 20th season as the girls coach at the Class D Detroit Catholic League school.

“When I was a player, Dave would take us to an area track for the conditioning a week or 10 days before the official start of practice,” Jim said. “We would run and run until the opening day of practice.

“Susan also does it with her team.

“You hate it but in the end you love it. Some of the old players I played with still talk about the track when we get together.”
