FLINT — The Ann Arbor Huron boys cross country team split into three separate teams at the Cavalier Invitational held at Carman-Ainsworth Friday in Flint.

Huron’s “A” team won the event with 40 points while their “B” squad took a close second place with 41 points.

Due to the constant rain, Huron coach Kent Overbey said the course was under water and mud by the time the event ended.

“Even though the conditions weren’t good, it was kind of a fun meet,” he said.

The River Rats’ first-place team was led by Kevin Egedy, who also was the overall event winner, with a time of 17:11. David Hiskens finished seventh in 18:14, Patrick Jobst was eighth with 18:15, Frank Zhu was ninth with 18:27 and Andrew Smith finished 15th with 18:48.

The second-place River Rats were topped by third-place finisher Akshay Jetli’s 17:51 finish. Evan Stemmer was fourth place with a time of 18:02, followed by Patrick Tincher in sixth (18:13), Jim Miller in 11th (18:42) and Matt Vyletal in 17th (18:55).
