Alma wins the TVC Central boys cross country title for the third time in four years

The Saginaw News, October 13, 2009 10:40 p.m.
Alma won its third Tri-Valley Central boys cross country title in the past four years after winning the third and final jamboree with 40 points on Tuesday at Chesaning. Chesaning (50) finished second and Freeland (85) third.

First place was up for grabs between Alma and Chesaning, with the Panthers winning the first jamboree and the Indians winning the second leading into the final league meet.

“A lot of it has to do with us being a veteran team,” said Alma coach Dale Devine, whose team was led by son Derek Devine’s fourth-place finish. “Our juniors and seniors didn’t want to lose, and packing up front like we did was definitely a good thing.”
