MILAN — The rich got richer in Tuesday’s Huron League track and field meet.
Airport’s boys and Milan’s girls capped off unbeaten seasons by winning the league meet with their superior depth.
The Jets won all four relays. The Big Reds won three of the four relays.
“We stress relays,” said Airport coach Mike Schley whose teams shared the overall league title with Milan last year. “Our concept is if your relays are solid, you’re going to be good in all the other events. You can build out from the relays.”
Two Jets in particular stepped up. Jodeci Mays won the 200 (:23.48), took second in the 100 and was on two of the winning relays. Evan Krzyske won the 800 (2:02.4), placed second in the 1,600 and was fifth in the 3,200.
Airport won with 173 points, Milan had 132 1/2, St. Mary Catholic Central 103, Jefferson 85, Grosse Ile 44, Flat Rock 31, Riverview 29 and New Boston Huron 12 1/2.
